Yorkshire Mum and author Vicky Cowie has three small children and Vicky observes that her children’s best loved books are now ‘tattered, battered and covered in snot!”

An author herself, Vicky has recently launched 5 delightful children’s books of her own – available on her new website, Vickycowie.com.Vicky explains:

“When I think of some of the stories I have read to my own children over the past 6 years, I noticed the good books on the shelf had battered edges, ripped pages and a healthy amount of encrusted snot. The others stood quite pristine, if a little dusty.

“I have always loved writing, especially the thrill in the challenge of telling my stories in rhyme – and I wanted to write those kind of books, the ones that would become a child’s favourite, loved and enjoyed.”

Vicky’s books feature interesting characters like Kevin the Kelpie and Melvin the Mole, whose stories have been brought to life with beautiful illustrations from the artist and sculptor Charlie Mackesy.  The whole collection is available for sale on Vicky’s newly launched website, built by talented web design company Design Web, who are based in North Wales but cover the whole of the UK.

With the launch timed perfectly for the Christmas gift-buying season, and the books priced from a very reasonably priced £6.99, the website is already seeing healthy sales of pristine books – which Vicky hopes will soon become a generation of much loved classics.

Furthermore, Vicky has learned something from the battered, tattered, snot encrusted collection of books owned by her own children.  She says:

“I truly hope you enjoy these tales and that the books are loved, tattered and battered and covered in snot!  However – here’s a tip – if you buy the hardbacks, you can wipe them clean!”
