Harrogate-based utility technology leader Synthotech is set to host the Innovation in Action event on 25 September 2025 at Barker Business Park, North Yorkshire. The showcase will bring together utility professionals, engineers, and innovators to explore the latest in leak detection, no-dig remediation, and pipe condition assessment technologies.
Innovation in Action is designed to accelerate the adoption of new technology across the utility sector. Visitors can expect a mix of hands-on workshops, live demonstrations, and insightful talks from sector experts.
The event reflects the company’s commitment to delivering smarter, faster, and more sustainable infrastructure solutions. Synthotech is also hosting an evening networking event at the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate on 24 September.
At the heart of this innovation is Synthotech’s expanded technology testing centre in North Yorkshire. A six-figure investment supports the development of trenchless technology for gas, water, and telecoms. The facility simulates real-world underground conditions and serves as a proving ground for cutting-edge robotics designed to reduce the environmental impact of utility maintenance.
The Innovation in Action day also highlights the company’s growing role in tackling water leakage. Synthotech, through its innovation arm Synovate, recently secured £5.8 million in Ofwat funding to advance robotic systems capable of locating and repairing leaks in live water mains. These solutions are expected to significantly reduce the need for excavation, along with associated costs and disruption.
Mark Tindley, managing director of Synthotech, said: “We’ve put innovation at the heart of our business, and new technology is helping us solve our customers’ big challenges. Events like Innovation in Action give the industry a chance to see what’s possible and what’s coming next.”
September’s event will showcase how Synthotech’s solutions are supporting utility companies under pressure to modernise their infrastructure, reduce carbon emissions, and improve resilience. With demand for its technologies growing both in the UK and globally, the event is a timely demonstration of why innovation in action matters now more than ever.
